AMES majors may petition to transfer one or two study abroad courses as AMES 200-level credits, subject to the following conditions:
The course syllabi must have been fully reviewed, and the courses must have been approved for AMES 100-level credit.
Regarding course syllabi: https://sites.google.com/view/dukeamesdus/course-transfer-from-study-abroad-programs/ames-literatureculture-courses
The petition must be submitted by email to the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) no later than the first day of the relevant courses. No petitions will be accepted after those courses have begun. In the petition, please state why you would like to convert AMES 100 to AMES 200 for a particular course.
In the petition, students must submit a course history listing all AMES literature, culture, and language courses they have taken, along with a plan for their remaining coursework in the reminder of the four years of study.
To receive AMES 200-level credit for study abroad courses, students must complete at least three AMES courses taught by AMES faculty members before graduation. You can find the name list of AMES faculty here: https://asianmideast.duke.edu/people/other-faculty/our-faculty
