For my “Build Your Own Space” project, I designed a home office with a focus on both functionality and comfort, all while staying well under the $10,000 budget. My goal was to create a calm, organized space that supports my productivity without feeling overwhelming or cluttered. I wanted the tech to feel intuitive and useful, not excessive.
In the project narrative, I described my vision of a cozy apartment office filled with natural light, greenery, and practical furnishings like a large desk, storage-friendly bookshelf, and comfortable chairs. I emphasized how a peaceful and personalized workspace can improve focus and reduce stress, especially important for long study or work sessions.
Rather than packing the room with devices, I selected purposeful hardware and comfort-focused items to enhance the atmosphere.
This project helped me think critically about the role of environment and technology in productivity. It also challenged me to make intentional design choices that support both mental well-being and work efficiency, something I plan to carry with me into future academic and professional spaces.
