An official DECA blazer will be given to each competing member, after they have signed a contract regarding the blazer. When in doubt, the California official outfit is a blue button-up shirt and khakis.
Make sure to avoid wearing anything you wouldn't be comfortable wearing in front of your teachers and parents. Treat this as a professional work setting!
For every competition, everyone must participate in a knowledge test, cluster exam, 1-2 role-plays, and a written project and presentation.
For specifics, please ask a Dublin DECA officer, or attend a training to learn what each competition category entails.
Besides competitions, there's also plenty of time for rest, learning, and relaxation. For larger competitions that span for multiple days, there are normally recreational activities, optional classes or seminars, and shopping areas nearby.
Not a problem! Even if you are unsure that this is the path you want to take, you can still participate. There's a part of business in every day life. From learning social skills, knowing how to market yourself, learning about our economic system, stress-relieving techniques, and more! Participate in DECA to see for yourself.
This is what we strongly recommend packing:
Your DECA blazer
3 to 4 formal business outfits
Dress shoes (CLOSED toe heels)
1 semiformal outfit for the dance (casual dresses, dress shirts)
2 to 3 casual outfits for normal use
Pajamas
Jackets
Flip flops/sneakers
Swimsuit (optional)
Cash for meals and/or souvenirs
Pro-Tip: Don't forget to roll your clothes when packing to prevent wrinkles and to save space!
