Public safety must be the village’s number one priority. It’s that simple. Crime has increased steadily in recent months, and we must keep a strong focus on prevention. Village leaders must bring together ALL residents, neighbors, and community groups together to develop a comprehensive public safety plan that leaves no one behind.
Neighborhood associations and other community groups must play a vital role in this process, but the village cannot simply decentralize all decisions and responsibilities. We must ensure that every part of our village is safe and secure, not just some neighborhoods or areas. And Oak Brook residents want results; they don’t care how it gets done. As Village President, Dr. Reddy will ensure that all residents and businesses feel safe and secure, and he will work collaboratively to address and solve the public safety concerns of every neighborhood from Saddlebrook to Forest Glen to Yorkwoods to Trinity Lakes and Hunter Trails to unincorporated Oak Brook (and everywhere in between).
A comprehensive public safety plan must take into account the unique needs and priorities of every part of Oak Brook, and it must be proactive and innovative. As a small business entrepreneur and part-time associate professor, I have deep experience deploying advanced technology to achieve transformational outcomes.
As one example, Dr. Reddy believes we must use Artificial intelligence (AI) to make our communities more safe and secure. AI has come a long way and played a role in revolutionizing public safety elsewhere, and he’d like Oak Brook to leverage these benefits to improve predictive policing and address our growing concern on crime and public safety. Key benefits include:
Proactively identify and respond to potential suspicious activity before crime occurs
Help law enforcement officers respond sooner and track potential threats in real time
Increase the accuracy and efficiency of surveillance systems and reduce false alarms
