Dr. Suresh Reddy is a current Trustee of Oak Brook, a resident of Hunter Trails, a practicing physician and associate professor, a small business owner, and former president of a national organization with more than 120,000 members.
Dr. Reddy is a community leader who is passionate about Oak Brook and focused on making local government more open, accountable, and resident-driven. He is committed to working collaboratively and transparently with all residents and village officials toward a building a brighter future for all.
Dr. Reddy's leadership experience, collaborative approach, and bridge-building mindset is what Oak Brook needs in a village president to bring all perspectives together. This is embodied in his slogan “Our Village, Our Future.”
Dr. Reddy is originally from Hyderabad, India, where he grew up in a family committed to public service. He moved to the U.S. to pursue higher education in medicine, completing his fellowship training at Harvard Medical School's hospitals and served on Harvard Medical School faculty for more than a decade. He also went on to complete a Master's in Health Care Management and Policy. Presently, Dr. Reddy is the Chief of Radiology at the VA Heinz Medical Center and the Lead Chief for VISN12, comprising 6 VA hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. He's also an Associate Professor of Radiology at Loyola University Medical Center.
Even as a practicing physician, Dr. Reddy believes in the power of organization and bringing people together. He previously served as the 36th President of the Indian American Physicians' Organization AAPI, an organization that represents the interests of approximately 100,000 Indian physicians in the U.S. Subsequently, he also served as the 40th President of the local chapter in Illinois in 2021. In both organizations, Dr. Reddy exceeded all expectations and pushed the organizations to greater heights. Through these experiences, Dr. Reddy learned first hand how a bold, dynamic servant leader can create change and improve a strong organization.
In 2021, Dr. Reddy ran and won a campaign to serve as Trustee of the Village of Oak Brook, where he has served for the last two years. As Trustee, he has delivered for Oak Brook residents from the beginning. He was Chair of the Village Manager selection committee that hired one of the most energetic, enthusiastic, and dynamic Village Managers Oak Brook has ever had. Dr. Reddy initiated and chaired the first-ever Independence Day parade and Veterans Day parade in Oak Brook to strengthen the bonds of community spirit in our village. He co-chaired the popular Taste of Oak Brook event, an essential event for building a stronger community. Dr. Reddy also played an integral role in helping the village make huge strides in its financial stability by building up its reserve fund, making the village well-positioned to weather financial storms in the future.
As Village Trustee, Dr. Reddy has worked diligently to keep taxes low while maintaining the same level of excellent services that Oak Brook is known for. He has continuously advocated for village governance to be more open, transparent, and collaborative - to ensure every resident has a seat at the table and a stake in our community's future. After two years of service, an unexpected opportunity presented itself to run for President of our Village, after our president Dr. Gopal Lalmalani decided not to run for re-election. With his cumulative experience as a leader, small business owner, entrepreneur, and community leader, Dr. Reddy is ready to lead our village as President.
