POSTERIOR VITREOUS DETACHMENT

vitrous is attached to retina. Its strong attachments are at vitrous base which is located at periphery of retina and parsplana. Also its strongly attached to optic disc.  Vitreous can be detached from its attachments on retina. Most common form is posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) in which it is detached from posterior pole. It may cause hole in retina which must be excluded in all fresh PVD.
