HYPERMETROPIA

Light rays converge behind retina and a converging or a convex lens or black lens in refraction box is required to focus light onto retina. The first diagram shows how light rays converge behind retina. The second diagram shows a converging lens converges light onto retina.

TREATMENT

A convex lens is used to treat hypermetropia. In young children hypermetropia upto +4 is not corrected. Above this 2/3rd of refraction is given. In case of squint full cycloplegic refraction is given deducting only the working distance.
