CLASSIFICATION OF CATARACT
It is classified as congenital and acquired.
The acquired causes include age related, secondary to eye disease or systemic disease.
The systemic diseases include
diabetes,
atopic dermatitis,
neurofibromatosis.
The eye diseases include
uveitis,
Glaucomflecken,
retinitis pigmentosa.
Trauma is most common cause in young adults.
Immature cataract: grey to yellow brown color
Mature cataract: white cataract with no fundus view
Hypermature cataract: anterior surface is wrinkled with white mature cataract
Brunescen cataract: hard brown cataract/black cataract/ nigra cataract
Morgagnian cataract: nucleus sinks down due to liquefaction of cortex
