The online Dragoo Family Ancestry Tree is part of the DFA's genealogical collection, which includes nearly 28,000 individuals representing generations of Dragoo families and related lines. New individuals, documents, and sources are added regularly.
Access to the online Ancestry tree is a benefit of DFA membership. If you are a DFA member and have not received an invitation to access the tree, please contact the Library Director.
The Dragoo Family Association (DFA) is an unincorporated nonprofit family association dedicated to preserving and sharing Dragoo family history, encouraging genealogical research, and strengthening connections throughout the extended Dragoo family.
Our family history includes the Dragoo surname and its historical spelling variations, including Draggoo, Dragaud, Drageau, and Drago. These variations reflect branches of the same extended family.
The first Dragaud generation to settle in America was Pierre Dragaud II and Elizabeth Tavaud. They married on November 12, 1699, at the Lord Mayor’s Chapel in Bristol, England, and came to America soon afterward. It is probable that all Dragoos in America after 1701 descend from Pierre and Elizabeth. Pierre descended from French Huguenots who fled to England during the 1680s.
Through family histories, genealogical research, documents, photographs, stories, and reunions, DFA members work together to preserve our shared heritage and strengthen connections among the generations.
Membership provides access to DFA resources, including the Association’s extensive Ancestry family tree, quarterly newsletter, and DFA librarians. It also gives members a voice in Association decisions while supporting the preservation and sharing of Dragoo family history.

The Dragoo Family Association gathers for a family reunion every two years. Our next reunion will be held in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2028. Dates and additional details will be announced as plans are finalized.
Our family has wonderful stories, and we want to share them with the cousins. We invite Dragoo descendants to contribute family stories, genealogical discoveries, historical documents, and photographs to The Dragoo Family News, our quarterly newsletter. These contributions help connect relatives, enrich the DFA Family History Library, and preserve our shared heritage for future generations.
