Notice: These guidelines are NOT FINAL and DOW has the right to alter them whenever necessary. Although these guidelines try to be as specific as possible, there will be unavoidable special cases. If you have any questions, contact vanouper0@gmail.com. Some forms of usage are more lenient than others, and DOW can forbid any usage of certain media.Â
Music - DOW is very lenient with music usage, in fact, we almost support it! However, you MUST credit us if you use any of our music.
Games - Contrary to music, DOW strictly forbids copying or plagiarising our games. References to games in your media are OK but credit us. We will not necessarily take action if your media is very similar, but try to be honest about your ideas. Meanwhile, if you are profiting off of obvious rip-offs of DOW media, we will take action.
Comics - We are a little less strict about using our comics, but you are not allowed to plagiarise/copy comics and present them as your own ideas. If the comics are free, you only have to credit us. If the comic is paid (which none are yet), you MUST email us about it, even if it is just a few panels.
Books - Books have identical rules to comics. However, if there are any book previews, you only have to credit us for using those.
Characters - Credit us if you use any of our characters or create any characters with backstories inspired by DOW. Due to the sheer number of characters, having characters with identical race, gender, age, hair, etc, does not matter. However, if you know you took character ideas for DOW, please credit us, even if it doesn't truly matter.
Organizations - Because DOW's fictitious organizations are fewer in number and more detailed, you have to give credit. Once again, make sure you email us if you want to use specific organizations in paid media.
More - DOW has no rules for using the following: Story Mode, Items (in concepts), and Timeline Names. You only need credit for using any of these in paid or free media: Servers, Artifacts, Situations, Products, etc. Email us for using Worldbuilding elements in paid media. YOU STILL NEED TO FOLLOW OTHER RULES.
