Notice: These are SUBJECTIVE age guidelines based off of the values of the creators. Although these age guidelines try to be specific, content between age guidelines may fluctuate depending on the person rating the media. DOW content usually never goes above a strong "TV-14" rating. However, it should be noted that a lot of DOW content is not appropriate for young children, with lots of stories featuring animated violence, blood, and crime, so proceed with caution. All Ages content is rare and usually kept to kids server stories such as Fun or Plushmania. No risqué content will ever present in DOW.
All Ages - This content is generally okay for all ages although ages 4 and up are recommended. May contain Mild Cartoon Violence and some cases of Mild Slapstick Humor. Brief Very Mild Scary Scenes may be present with the rating. This is a very rare rating, usually being delegated to informative content. Some watered down "kids" stories may come in the future.
Guidance Suggested - This is generally content only suitable for ages 8 and up. May contain Mild Violence, Cartoon Violence, Crass Humor, brief Crime Depictions, Scary Scenes, and/or Insults
Guidance Advised - This is generally content that would be fine for ages 8 and up however there are more concerns than the average Guidance Suggested that may require looking into. May contain Moderate Violence, some Violent Themes, and Crime Depictions.
Caution Advised - This is generally content only suitable for ages 12 and up. May contain Strong Violence, Blood, Violent Themes, Bad Language
Mature - This is generally content only suitable for ages 15 and up. May contain Graphic Violence, Graphic Scenes, Blood, Bad Language, or Interactive Gambling Sequences (Simulated)
(Mild/Moderate/Strong/Graphic) Violence: This is in reference to scenes of violence that occur throughout the stories. Mild would be brief and fantastical sequences of action (lasers and sci-fi things) with all fatalities off-screen preferably being implied. Moderate would be similar to superhero fight scenes; some non-graphic causalities can occur. Strong violence would be brutal action scenes with mild blood and possible casualties. Graphic would be brutal with possible blood and gore. All violence is animated so not necessarily realistic.
Blood: Blood is shown in the media. This will always get it up to Caution Advised.
(Mild) Cartoon Violence: Violence easily distinguished from real life and very fantastical. Mild wlil warrant All Ages. Mild Cartoon Violence involves peril or short non-fatal fights. Cartoon Violence will warrant Guidance Advised or higher.
Violent Themes: Backstory or references to violence or tragic events, will almost always up it to Guidance Advised+ depending on the severity. This means violent acts aren't shown but implied or discuss. An example of Violent Themes would be a gun being shown or a murder being discussed but not shown.
Scary (Graphic) Scenes: These are scenes in stories that some may consider unsettling, whether its themes or imagery. Graphic Scenes often goes hand in hand with Strong or Graphic Violence however an aftermath of a violent act would only be Graphic Scenes. Scary Scenes will always get a Guidance Advised, more intense scary scenes will be Guidance Advised+. Graphic Scenes will almost always be Caution Advised or Mature. Once again, "graphic scenes" are animated, not necessarily realistic.
(Insults) Bad Language: Insults will generally warrant a Guidance Advised while mild language will (he**, da**, and cr**) will get it rated Guidance Advised+. Strong usage will earn a Caution Advised. Very strong language will be Mature.
(Brief) Crime Depictions: Depictions of non-violent crime firearm or illicit substances trade, other crimes such as robberies, fraud, cybercrime, and evidence tampering can also fit this category but it depends. Ratings can vary depending on how brief or detailed the depiction is, this is mostly up to author discretion however all stories containing crimes must be marked with this descriptor. This will never be lowered than a Guidance Advised.
(Mild) Slapstick (Crass) Humor: Slapstick humor consists of depictions as cartoon violence played for laughs or brief and mild ill-suited jokes/potty humor. Crass humor would be slightly stronger jokes (usually going hand in hand with one of the other explanations) and/or strong slapstick humor. Slapstick will warrant a All Ages while Crass Humor will warrant a Guidance Advised+ or higher.
Depictions of Gambling: Gambling is depicted. This will always warrant at least a Caution Advised. Prolonged or interactive gambling sequences will warrant a Mature. "Prolonged" is up to author discretion.
