A referral from your family doctor is required.
As there are only two urologists serving our community, we appreciate your patience regarding wait times.

When we reach out to schedule your consultation, you will receive a text message or a phone call. A copy of this info will also be sent to the referring physician/family doctor.

To ensure Dr. Gabrigna Berto has everything she needs for your visit, please complete the following:
[ ] Lab Work: Complete all requested blood or urine tests at least one week before your appointment.
[ ] Health Card: Bring your valid Provincial Health Card (required for check-in).
[ ] Medication List: Bring a current list of all medications and dosages.
[ ] Medical History: An itemized list of past diagnoses and surgeries is highly helpful.
Returning Patients: If this is a follow-up visit, please be prepared to update us on any changes to your health since your last appointment.

All surgical procedures are performed at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA 80 Grand Ave West Chatham
Check-In Time: You must register 1.5 hours before your scheduled surgery time.
Where to Go: Enter through the Main Front Doors of the hospital.(Grand Ave)
Registration: After checking in at the main desk, staff will direct you to the Day Surgery department.
Please strictly follow all specific pre-operative instructions provided to you (such as fasting or medication changes).
Failure to follow these instructions may result in your surgery being rescheduled.
Dr. Berto also sees patients at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA).

Entrance: Use the Ambulatory Care Entrance at the back of the hospital (accessible via Louise Street).
Registration: Please arrive 15–30 minutes early to check in at the Ambulatory Care Registration Desk.
During your hospital appointment, Dr. Berto may request a Uroflow Test. This is a simple, non-invasive test that measures the speed and volume of your urination.
How it works: You will be asked to urinate into a specialized funnel or toilet connected to a computer.
Preparation: This test is most accurate when performed with a full bladder. Please try to arrive feeling the urge to urinate.
Suspected UTI: Please contact your Primary Care Provider (PCP). They can facilitate a urine sample to be sent to the lab for testing.
If you do not have a primary care provider, a pharmacist may be able to treat.
Catheter Issues: * If you have a home care agency (e.g., Bayshore or VON), contact them immediately for assessment.
Otherwise, contact your Primary Care Provider.
Emergencies: If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please proceed to your local Emergency Room immediately.
Contact your pharmacy to initiate a refill request via fax:
Non-Urgent: The pharmacy should fax the request to Dr. Berto’s office.
Urgent: If Dr. Berto is away, have the pharmacy fax the request to your Primary Care Provider.
If you are experiencing concerns or side effects with medication please speak to your pharmacist or primary care provider.
If you need to confirm or cancel an appointment with Dr. Gabrigna Berto- A voicemail can be left and we will call you back to reschedule if needed.
New Referrals: All referrals are triaged by the urologist. You will be contacted with a date as soon as one becomes available.
Wait Times: For non-urgent concerns, current wait times are approximately 12–18 months.
Follow-up: A referral acknowledgement is sent to your referring physician/PCP, which includes estimated wait times and your consultation date.
