Dr. Ibrahima Badji Expands His Vision: "African Connection" Opens New Branch in Kampala, Uganda
Kampala, Uganda – Dr. Ibrahima Badji, founder of the renowned "Gambian Connection Group," has taken a significant step by renaming his organization "African Connection." As part of this rebranding, a new branch has been opened in Kampala, Uganda. The goal is to extend the successful projects and initiatives that have already brought positive change to Gambia and Sierra Leone to other African countries.
"African Connection" will focus on supporting young people in Uganda, particularly in the areas of athletics, education, and employment. Dr. Badji plans to be in Kampala from December to March to understand the needs and concerns of the youth and develop tailored projects with them.
One focus is on athletics. Dr. Badji will meet with local teams to support training materials, coaches, and possibly even the construction of sports facilities. Additionally, projects for youth development and job creation are planned to provide young people with long-term prospects.
The projects will be financed by private sponsors, mainly from Canada. Four sponsors have already pledged their support, including a software company from Quebec.
The first projects are expected to start in mid-2026. Until then, "African Connection" will build local partnerships and determine the exact needs of the youth.
Background of the Renaming
The "Gambian Connection Group" was originally founded to help young people in Gambia. However, after the success of the projects in Gambia and Sierra Leone, Dr. Badji decided to broaden the focus and extend his vision to the whole of Africa. The renaming to "African Connection" is intended to highlight this new direction.
Quote from Dr. Ibrahima Badji:
"Gambia is developed and I want to continue. I have seen Gambia for ten years now, experiencing how bad people can be there sometimes, and I feel that Uganda has much more to offer, the people are more welcoming. We will not abandon our commitment in Gambia, but it is simply time to broaden our horizons."
