Many places are hiring! Service work in restaurants, fast food, and retail are good places to start your search. Below are a few openings.

Restaurants/ Food

Work as a host, server, cook, or cashier at any of these establishments.

Retail

Learn customer service skills, finances, and team work. Check and see if your favorite stores are hiring!

Athletics

Become a soccer referee (allowed at 14 years old) or work at a local gym. During the Summer, look for sports camp posts.

Working Papers

Students over the age of 14 but under the age of 18 wishing to obtain employment must complete an Application for Employment Certificate.  Successful completion of this document will result in students being issued a Working Card, which identifies that they are eligible to hold an after school job.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering our time helps us discover our passions and potential career paths while giving back to a community. Volunteer hours are sometimes necessary for organizations like honors societies. Listed below are a few places to help start your search or you can join a High School Club: 

YMCA of Long Island

Habitat for Humanity

Volunteer to restore homes, on construction sites, as a photographer, work with children, or assist their holiday programs

Volunteer with Animals

This line of work is great exposure to Veterinary practices. Opportunities are with a wide range of animals. 

Hospitals Near By

Join a team of volunteers to learn new skills and meet new friends. Whether playing with children, helping families find their way or answering phones, our volunteers make a difference that often eases stress for patients and families during a difficult time. Age requirement ranges for each location, usually have to be 14-16 years old to start.
