St. John's University - October 8th, 2025
Today, a group of Deer Park High School students visited St. John’s University in Queens, NY. Located at 8000 Utopia Parkway in Queens, St. John’s is about 26 miles from Deer Park, roughly a 40‑45 minute drive, depending on traffic.
St. John’s is a private Catholic university founded in 1870 by the Vincentian Fathers. Its main campus is nearly 102 acres, set in a residential area of Queens that offers both the feel of a college town and the opportunities of being in New York City
Academically, St. John’s offers over 100 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs across its multiple schools. It’s especially well known for strong programs in business, education, law, and health professions, as well as its commitment to global education, service, and making available internships and real‑world experiences due to its location.
The tour was a great opportunity for our students to see first‑hand what St. John’s University offers, both in terms of academic rigor and campus life. We look forward to seeing how this experience will inform their future college decisions.
National Hispanic College Fair (Molloy University) - October 24th, 2025
A group of Deer Park High School juniors and seniors visited Molloy University in Rockville Centre, NY, to attend the National Hispanic College Fair. The event featured a wide variety of colleges and universities from across the region, all set up to speak with students about admissions, academic programs, and scholarship opportunities. This fair provided our students with a valuable opportunity to explore different postsecondary options, ask questions directly to college representatives, and gain insight into the many pathways available after high school.
New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) - November 7th, 2025
Today, a group of Deer Park High School juniors and seniors visited the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) at its Old Westbury campus on Long Island. Located on Northern Boulevard (Route 25A), the campus is about 17 miles from Deer Park, roughly a 20–25 minute drive, depending on traffic.
NYIT is a private university known for its focus on technology, innovation, and career-ready education. The scenic Old Westbury campus sits on 200 wooded acres along Long Island’s historic North Shore, offering students a peaceful learning environment with easy access to New York City.
Academically, NYIT offers more than 90 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. The university is especially well known for its strong majors in engineering, computer science, architecture, business, and health sciences. Students benefit from hands-on learning, modern labs, and internship opportunities that prepare them for success in today’s fast-changing job market.
The visit gave our juniors and seniors the chance to experience NYIT’s dynamic campus environment and learn about its academic offerings firsthand. We hope this trip inspires them as they explore their college and career options for the future.
Stony Brook University - December 2nd, 2025
Today, some of our Deer Park High School juniors and seniors got to explore Stony Brook University, a SUNY school just a quick ride from home! Located in Stony Brook on Long Island’s North Shore, the campus is only a 20–30 minute drive from Deer Park (depending on traffic).
Stony Brook is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and is recognized as one of New York’s top public research universities. Spread across over 1,000 wooded acres, its campus blends nature, open space, and a lively student community.
With 200+ majors and programs, there is something for nearly every interest from science and health, to business, computer science, psychology, and more. Popular choices include Biology, Psychology, Business Management, Computer Science, Health Science, Economics, and Applied Mathematics & Statistics.
The visit gave our students a real feel for what college life might look like strolling through green open spaces, checking out academic buildings, and imagining themselves as future Seawolves. We hope this tour got them thinking about the many possibilities ahead!
Adelphi University (College Awareness Day) - December 10th, 2025
Our Deer Park High School 10th and 11th graders had the exciting opportunity to explore Adelphi University during College Awareness Day! Located in Garden City on Long Island, Adelphi is known for its strong academic programs, welcoming campus community, and commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school.
The day began with an informational session where students learned about the college experience and shared their own personal plans for success. Afterward, students participated in a variety of workshops, choosing from topics such as writing the college essay, studying abroad, navigating financial aid, and more.
Students also enjoyed a campus tour, including a visit inside a dorm, giving them a firsthand look at what life as a Panther might be like. The visit concluded with lunch on campus, giving students a chance to connect with their peers and reflect on the day.
This trip gave our students a real sense of college life. From engaging with faculty and exploring academic programs, to imagining themselves living on campus and planning their futures. We hope this experience inspires them to think about the many paths and opportunities that lie ahead!
