I have four children, having had a range of experiences along the way. My first baby was born in hospital after an induction of labour, while my other three babies were born at home. I started training as a Breastfeeding Counsellor in 2003, then became an Antenatal Practitioner in 2016. Now my children are older, working as a Doula is a natural step to further support parents. Alongside this I have also worked as a Childminder since 2013.
I believe in the innate ability of women to give birth, and that pregnancy should not be treated as an illness. Women should feel in control of decisions made about childbirth, and knowing up to date evidence-based information is a vital part of this process. I also believe that one size does not necessarily fit all, and that different people all make different decisions for many good and valid reasons. This non-judgemental attitude is fundamental to a good relationship with parents on their journey through birth.
I have a warm and caring nature, and will take my lead from you as to what you need from me. I can offer practical help, informational support, and also emotional support.
I support women on their own or as part of a couple, and with any background, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation or belief system.
