Using Dot Cards to Hatch-A-Dot
The process of using another Keeper's Dot Card for Hatching with one of your own Dots is quite simple - BUT - there are a few things you need to know so we will try and outline the important ones here.
Starting off with which Dot Cards can you use...
One of your own Dots
No.
A Wild Dot
No.
A Chaos Dot with Traits obscuring the frame spots
No.
Another Keeper's Dot
Yes.
One advantage of using Dot Cards is that you can grab them from Keeper's Dots at Habitats that may be locked (say for example you can't or don't want to clear the surrounding Blight, or you have no Windchimes to use), when you 'share' the Keepers Dot Card to your device, the Lock does not carry over with the Dot Card.
Grabbing a Keeper's Dot Card and sharing it to your device is also really useful if the Habitat rotation timer is close to ending - once you have the Dot Card saved it doesn't matter. So long as the Keeper in question does not release that Dot, you can use the Dot Card to Hatch whenever you wish!
Some players collect Dot Cards during the week, or when they are busy, essentially creating a 'library' of Dots they may wish to Hatch with. Hatching can then be done at another time and at a more leisurely pace.
Dot Cards can also be obtained from other sources such as Discord, Twitter (X) etc. by saving the posted images to your device. Note, Campfire does not allow image saving and screenshots will not work - so best to give Campfire a miss if you are looking for Dot Cards.
So let's now take a look at the Card Uploading process to Hatch-A-Dot...
Firstly, head over to the Discover screen by tapping on the icon on the top left of your screen (underneath the map icon), it looks like a suitcase.
Then open the 'UPLOAD' tab.
Tap the 'Upload Dot Card' button and select a Dot Card from your device.
You will then be taken to the usual Hatch-A-Dot screen where you can compare the two Dots, check out the Traits and decide if you want to proceed to match the two for Hatching.
A final note - Dot Cards must be in .png format. Not all devices save images in native .png format (most that do not, will save in .jpg format) and you may need to use an app to convert the Dot Cards to the required format.
