The Air Support unit is the 'eyes in the skies' for all Law Enforcement Officers, operating with both safety and efficiency at the forefront of all we do. Our purpose is to assist and protect all units on the ground with our Aerial advantage.
This may consist of proactively searching and scoping out San Andreas' Highways and Interstates for speeders and agressive drivers; assisting ground units in foot pursuits and vehicle pursuits by providing accurate locations, speeds and descriptions on any suspect vehicle; providing rapid tactical insertion for the SWAT team; and finally providing search and rescue service for any lost hikers in the great mountains and parks of San Andreas.
The Air Support Unit (ASU) Search and Rescue (SAR) is a specialised certification with ASU, providing resources dedicated to locating and rescuing missing individuals or individuals in distress.
SAR trained pilots undergo a thorough training process to hone their flight skills, allowing them to expertly manipulate their aircraft in perilous conditions. Their exceptional flying abilities, paired with on-board systems of our UH-1 Iroquois allows them to ensure the wellbeing and safety of civilians who fall victim to the unpredictable terrain and weather within the great mountains and state parks of San Andreas'.
Often times, the SAR Unit works in close cooperation with other divisions and agencies. Due to the operations in remote jurisdictions, their is frequent overlap with San Andreas State Parks, who can aid in the ground rescue process with their off-road capabilities.
Air Support Division's Tactical Insertion Certification is run in collaboration with Special Weapons and Tactics. This joint venture provides a highly-qualified unit, capable of quickly deploying specially trained SWAT Operators to dangerous suspects. The helicopter is a handy tool for SWAT, allowing them to increase their response time and access challenging locations with ease when compared to their bulky, armoured vehicles. The skilled pilot's of ASU can place the SWAT Operators in unique positions, to give them the tactical advantage on violent and dangerous suspects.
