Updates will be given in a similar fashion for Isabell and Watson's 2023 litter.

Isabell had her Fetal Count Radiograph today and we found out she would be having 6 puppies! Today is day 61 from the first AI and we thought we would have at least a few days or maybe even a week more before the due date. Little did we know that only a few hours after we got home that she would go into labor. The first puppy and the only boy was born at 7:15pm. The final puppy was delivered around 11pm. Thankfully Isabell and her babies are all doing well.

Isabell came into heat later than expected. Her first day of heat was 2/21/2021. She was bred to Watson this week via AI and we are waiting to see if it took. Fingers crossed! We will post once we know for sure if she is carrying pups. If so, the due date would be on the 15th of May. The pups should be ready to go to their new homes by mid-July. Email us at IsabellDoodleman@gmail.com with questions or to be put on the waiting list.

We are planning a second breeding for Isabell with Watson again because their puppies all have such excellent temperaments and are so adorable and wonderful. If it works out than the puppies would be available to go home in late May. Email us at IsabellDoodleman@gmail.com with questions or to be put on the waiting list.

Isabell is doing well. Stella D'oro and Black Bear are enjoying the new fallen snow. Stella D'oro has a nice thick "golden" coat and doesn't mind the cold one bit. Black Bear was the only puppy in the litter who had a smooth coat at birth and although his coat is fluffier now, it is not nearly as plush as his litter-mates'. So he needs a little extra warmth and has learned to tolerate his adorable doggy jacket.

Puppies are 8 weeks old today!
They are sleeping through the night for the most part. We have been crate "conditioning" them for a few weeks now. The crates are located in a 11x8 foot pen in the heart of our house the kitchen. So far we are letting them sleep in open crates so that if they need to they can use the litter box in the night. The important thing is that the puppies move away from their "nest" to potty. We do our best to take them outside frequently to give them the opportunity to go potty outside. Most of the time as soon as we go outside they go potty. Their outdoor potty efforts are praised.
Isabell will occasionally nurse them but for the most part all their nutrition is coming from their meals. Their appetites have increased and we are feeding them at least four times a day. The base for their meals is Answers Detailed Raw rotating with beef, chicken, turkey and pork. We are still adding Raw Goat Milk and Kefir to each meal. Other add ins are bone broth and egg yolk.
The puppies will settle down nicely when we give them raw meaty bones. Usually we offer chicken feet but they are also munching on chicken wings and sometimes legs now.

Puppies are finally interested in treats to the point where we can do more formal training. We are working on Manding with the puppies. We continue to expose the puppies to new experiences. We have started to bring the puppies outside to potty in a small fenced in area on a regular basis and they have a little "fake grass" litter box for inside use. We also bring the puppies out to the big yard for supervised playtime and the opportunity to meet new friendly dogs and people. So far the puppies have been very curious and don't appear to have entered into a fear stage.
10/13/20 Puppies are starting to wag their tails and interact with each other. Some of the puppies have their incisors emerging! Isabell is still doing a great job taking care of the pups but she is spending more time out of the welping box. We will start to offer the pups raw goat milk mixed with a tiny bit of raw goat kefir and pastured egg yolk. Today each puppy got a chance to go outside individually in my arms. Every day this week we will introduce a new toy or item into the welping box and/or take them on a new experience. For example, yesterday they played with a hopping stuffed bunny and got to visit the laundry room with the washer and dryer running.
10/8/20 Puppies had their first visit with the vet today. All is well and the vet thought they were gaining weight nicely.
9/30/20 The past ten days have been an exciting time for us. Almost all the puppies have doubled their birth weight. We have been working on ENS and holding the pups as much as possible. They are really strong! They should open their eyes any day now.
9/21/20 Isabell is staying by her puppies and continuing to clean and nurse them. I have been hand feeding her and making sure she stays hydrated. Today she ate Answers Raw Pet Food Detailed - chicken, one raw chicken foot, one sardine, a few small bowls of raw goat milk with a bit of raw goat kefir and one raw free range egg. She needs loads of nutrition to feed her babies.
9/20/20 Puppies Birthday!!! Isabell surprised us by going into my husband's closet in the wee hours of the morning and giving birth to her puppies! When we found her, she had already cleaned them up and nursed them to sleep. What a good mama she is!
We inspected and weighed them all and they look great! Puppies range in weight from 9.3 oz to a whopping 12.6 oz! We have one red (dark tan), one light tan and four black with a small white markings. Two of the blacks are males and all other pups are female.
9/8/2020 Isabell had a fetal count radiography today. Five puppies are confirmed and there may be a sixth puppy but the vet couldn't tell for sure. Puppies should be here in a week or two!
