Brief History of Donum Dei International School

Donum Dei International (DDI) School was founded on September 8, 2015, as a private educational institution, with the esteemed patronage of Mrs. K.A.M. Bernadette Coorey (nee Perera). The school's vision was to impart Cambridge Education and Curriculum, spanning from the Cambridge Primary Level to the Cambridge Advanced Level. The school adopted the name "Donum Dei, "in Latin meaning "Gift of God" , signifying its commitment in fostering a familial learning environment rooted in Christian values.

Recognizing the challenge faced by many middle and low level income parents in accessing high quality English medium education  at an affordable cost, DDI School was established with the explicit purpose of addressing this educational gap. Central to DDI's mission is the delivery of superior education, ensuring commensurate value for the investment made.

The inaugural year of 2015 saw the enrollment of merely seven students, comprising five pupils from Grade 1 to 5, and two for Grade 7. Accompanied by a panel of four teachers, DDI embarked on its journey. Subsequent years witnessed a notable rise in student enrollment, culminating in the present scenario where DDI, as of September 2023, provides education to a thriving student body exceeding 100 individuals.

DDI distinguishes itself by providing a meticulously structured Cambridge Education in Science and Mathematics for the Primary level, spanning from Grade 1 to 5. This strong foundation facilitated the inclusion of a Science stream encompassing Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, commencing from Grade 6. A significant milestone occurred in October 2019 when DDI facilitated its first student's participation in the Cambridge O level examinations, specifically in the Science stream. Its remarkable that a 0 failure rate in all the Cambridge exams up to May 2023.
