My talk at the RSS International Conference, 2023.
4th-7th September
I was invited to give a talk at the RSS International Conference 2023, thanks to my 'best talk' award at the RSC 2022. The prize winners all spoke in a series dedicated to the RSC. An amazing opportunity!
11th-14th July
I presented a talk at the Sheffield Spatial Ecology workshop 2023. This was a fantastic opportunity to react with ecologists, other statistical ecologists, and mathematical biologists working in more of a deterministic framework. It was a great to interact with experts in the field, and meet early careers researchers working on similar material to myself.
26th-28th June
I was in attendance for the NCSE summer meeting in 2023. A very worthwhile experience, it was great to network with others in my field and witness the vast array of research on display. At this meeting, I was able to present an almost complete work. I received a first place prize for 'best student talk'.

18th-21th December
I attended the BES 2022 annual meeting in Edinburgh, at which I presented a poster. It was very worthwhile gaining the experience talking to ecologists from a non-statistical background, making the case for my research.

5th September- 8th September 2022
I attended the RSC 2022 in Nottingham- a conference for, and organised entirely by, PhD candidates. I gave a talk somewhat akin to my talk at the ISEC 2022 (although perhaps more accessible). At this conference, I received a 'best talk' prize, which involved an invitation to the Royal Statistical Society conference in 2023!
27th June-1st July 2022
I attended the ISEC 2022 conference in Cape Town, South Africa. At this conference, I gave a talk on my early research progress and my plans for developing my efficient method for inference. I made many genuine friends and core memories.
One of the proudest moments of my academic career occured at the ISEC 2022 conference- I came second in their meme competition! Jokes aside, my meme is topical for my research, which aims to peel ecologists away from discrete-time methods for inference such as the Hidden Markov model (HMM).
