Part 2: Linking to Career-Readiness Competencies
Competency 1: Technology
I have used numerous forms of professional media technology such as soundboards, switchers, and Adobe Premiere Pro. During the pledge break, I switched for a live on-air production. That involvement strengthened my ability to manage stress and technical challenges in problem-solving. I plan to develop this in the future with sophisticated editing courses and earning AV certification.
Competency 2: Professionalism
I learned a lot about punctuality, integrity, and taking lead by going above and beyond. I had privileges such as co-producing an episode for PBS Curate, and with that came the obligation for meeting deadlines, thorough planning, and coordinated execution. I remember my first day and dedicated my time to the WHRO studio to coming in early and staying late on a 10-hour shoot. That was vital to earning the WHRO staff's trust and respect.
Competency 3: Career & Self-Development
I worked in other areas such as sound mixing and field setup. I learned to obtain guidance and enthusiastically look for feedback. I’m actively planning my next step: I expect to focus on getting an internship or job in audio post-production and acquiring sound roles in upcoming film ventures.
What’s Next?
This internship has fulfilled to confirm that I am on the right path. I am now getting ready to seek out openings with production companies, particularly in the areas of audio postproduction and live event coverage. Additionally, I plan to expand my Adobe editing skills further and maintain communication with my WHRO contacts who nicely volunteered to act as references.
