Aims and Scope

The Dolores NHS Research and Innovation Journal (DRIJ) aims to publish teacher-researchers and students’ articles on education, developments on educational policies, advancements on educational technologies, and other multi-disciplinary areas in basic education research under the research agenda of the Department of Education. Contributors have submitted their research abstracts and the details of their published papers following the technical format of the journal, and were reviewed and revised based on clarity, organization, language and length. No publication fee will be collected from the authors.

For the first time in the history of this humble public secondary education, the Dolores National High School has established its own ISSN-based research journal, as an affirmation of the publish or perish dictum.

Appropriateness of Citation Format. Authors are advised to use the American Psychological Association (APA) style manual (7th edition).

Review System

Definition. Peer review is the process of subjecting an author’s scholarly work, research, or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field. Peer review requires a community of experts in a given (and often narrowly defined) field who are qualified and able to perform impartial reviews.

Recruiting article reviewers. The task of picking reviewers is the responsibility of the editorial team. When a manuscript arrives, the managing editor solicits reviews from two (2) scholars or other experts to review the manuscript. The reviewer must have an excellent track record as a researcher in the field as evidenced by researchers published in refereed journals, research-related awards, and experience in peer review.

Criteria for Acceptance and Rejection. A manuscript is accepted when it is (1) endorsed for publication by 1 or 2 reviewers,(2) the instructions of the reviewers have complied substantially; (3) ethical standards and protocols are complied for studies involving humans and animals; and (4) the manuscript passed the plagiarism detection test with a score of at least 90 for originality, otherwise, the manuscript is rejected. The reviews must include an explicit recommendation of what to do with the article, chosen from options provided by the journal.
