Give your puppy a calm, positive start to grooming — building confidence from the very first visit.
At Dog Spa Harrow, puppy grooming is approached gently and at your puppy’s pace, helping them feel safe, comfortable and supported in a new environment.
This structured 3-session introduction programme is designed to gradually familiarise your puppy with the grooming process.
The focus is on building trust and positive associations with handling, equipment, sounds and sensations — rather than achieving a perfect groom.
Session 1
A calm introduction to the salon, with gentle handling and time to settle and explore.
Session 2
A short bath, gentle drying and light brushing, along with introduction to grooming tools and sounds.
Session 3
Bath, dry and brush, with a gentle tidy of the face, feet and hygiene areas (as tolerated), plus a nail trim.
Each session is adapted to your puppy’s comfort level, allowing time, patience and a positive experience throughout.
Early, positive grooming experiences can help:
Build confidence and reduce anxiety
Prevent fear of grooming later in life
Make future grooming sessions calmer and easier
Support your puppy’s overall wellbeing
What Happens Next?
After completing the introduction sessions, many puppies are ready to move on to a regular grooming routine.
Depending on your dog’s confidence and coat type, you may choose a full groom or continue with a few shorter sessions to build further confidence.
For best results, sessions are recommended on a weekly basis to help your puppy build familiarity and confidence.
Some puppies may benefit from additional sessions depending on their individual needs.
This service is not suitable for matted coats, as mats trap moisture and are difficult to dry. Any matting would need to be removed before bathing
