OHIP Covered Services
Our Requirements
Our focus is to treat those who are defined as at least one of the following: frail, elderly, housebound, geriatric, and/or palliative.
If patients meet these new OHIP criteria (as of October 1st, 2019) the house call is 100% covered by OHIP with a valid health card.
Priority will be given to patients who are over the age of 65 without a family doctor or office-based care (DHCS policy as of January 1st, 2024).
A frail elderly patient is a patient who is 65 years of age or older and has one or more of the following criteria:
Complex medical management needs, that may include polypharmacy;
Cognitive impairment (such as dementia or delirium);
Age-related reduced mobility or falls; and/or
Unexplained functional decline not otherwise specified.
A homebound patient is a patient who meets all of the following criteria:
The person has difficulty in accessing office-based primary health care services because of medical, physical, cognitive, or psycho-social needs/conditions
Transportation and other strategies to remedy the access difficulties have been considered, but are not available, or are not appropriate in the person's circumstances; and
The person's care and support requirements can be effectively and appropriately delivered at home.
Please note that fees will apply to all prescriptions issued by our physicians and these prescriptions will only be issued for a 30-day period.
