There are several barbering schools in Massachusetts. Similar to accredited barber programs in a correctional facility, students need to complete 1,000 hours of training and take and pass the State Barber Board examination. The State Barber Board examination consists of a written 100 question test.
The costs of these classes and testing are your responsibility. Training school can be expensive but accredited schools will offer financial aid, including Pell Grants, to eligible candidates.
If you have hours from a DOC training program, let your current program know so that those hours can be counted towards your training hours. Training hours no longer expire.
