Students who struggle with reading and students with reading disabilities share many of the same challenges, just at different levels of severity. The tools and strategies that can help students with reading disabilities can also help students who struggle with reading and reading comprehension.
This online resource was designed to help educators understand the big picture of how universal design for learning, differentiated instruction, and specially designed instruction work together within a multi-tiered system of supports. Focusing on reading, and including information on specific learning disabilities, other health impairments, traumatic brain injury, and other impairments, the activities will bring all of these topics together within a problem solving process and IEP considerations.
The topic of eligibility is not addressed in this resource. Eligibility considerations can be addressed at any time there is data that indicates a need for specially designed instruction should be addressed. This resource focuses on learning.
