It is intended for reflection and raise consideration for shaping democracies in new terrain. The author is a resident of Virginia and influenced by George Washington, "a sensible, intelligent young man who was familiar with the wilderness," to uncover the civilizing influences that made the Commonwealth while mindful of the failed attempts by Colonial Governors to diversify the economy.
From "A Tribute:" Englishmen first landed on the North-American Continent in Virginia under the attractive Elizabeth I who beguiles men still, chartered under the Scotsman James I, taken royal possession under his far-seeing Son Charles I early in his reign and centralized by Charles II's reckoning for revenue and prerogatives and coherence. The ships were captained or peopled by military men on leave, of some five years in noted examples, and as familiar with Dutch landscape as they were to discover in Tidewater Virginia. A lone voice during the early years envisioned an Assembly for the new settlement but who did not live to see it to fruition—distinguished as the first in North America-- in the scope of a partisan brawl that mirrored the impeding civil war in England. To read that tumult without the story unfolding since in Virginia would not represent the ongoing narrative. Parliament men, also officers in venture firms, that wanted to compete against Spain for territories abroad would contrast sharply with a Stuart strategy that shipped gold via London for the same country while it battled France for advantage, remembering the loss of Normandy. All of which rendered difficult to comprehend early on how a capable Parliament as would be an Assembly in Virginia prove so vital in sustaining a nascent global power, based on sea lanes; the Sovereign, we came to learn, maintains the collective well-being of Britain by the religious function, implied by Shakespeare who is so horrified by civil wars and invasions, and helps us preamble how the Head of the Church of England came to disabled them--by its independence, given the record since.
Explaining "inspired by" in the dedication to write this pamphlet:
As I see it,
Catherine Middleton was adopted into the House of Windsor
By the studious Queen Elizabeth II,
by deliberation that lasted ten years
(As I read the news contrary to most);
Befriended by the wisdom of King Charles III,
And intimately conversed and wedded
With the Tall Figure of William.
The Two, Bride and Groom, grow by leaps
Motivated by a sense of duty foretold and instilled in all working royals,
On display on the Royal.uk blog.
An American from Virginia
New to the Commonwealth will sense the Histories upon his own manners
And will describe his means of defining the flourishing Character
That the British-American education brings.
The U.S. Presidential history by its relation to Britain was a constant presence during this writing and culminates in this writing in the examples that prepared America for World War I.

Maps
Dated 1783 - A map of early America, with the Three Powers in contest. Among them, ultimtely, the Protestant Ethics prevailed to create the United States and soon allied with the United Kingdom and her Commonwealth.
Below: A collection of maps by John Hale, Cartographer in "A Historical Atlas of Colonial Virginia" presents a rich treasure trove of details to describe the progression from first landing to infrastructure on a vast scale that envisioned the continental powers. All images copyright Old Dominion Publications and are posted for educational purposes only. The maps make a convenient way to absorb the precedence that fostered the intelligent colonists.
Private venture companies were granted land on a commercial basis and acted as monopolies. Under James I, the rights were transferred to the King in his last year before his son Charles I ascended the throne.
The area known as Tidewater can be visualized in Williamsburg today, and conveys the elegance that was brought to the wilderness but also where the first assembly house in America, the House of Burghesses, was established in 1619 to establish laws on new ground.
The County system has to be learned as a field of study while I have tried to learn the vocabuary of the land grants and patents whose size would overwhelm one's imagination in Britain.
Below: On this map, John Lederer is the German doctor who arrives down the Shenandoah and is settled by German arrivals who will play an important role in Valley Forge and a supporter to Geo. Washington. The English who would contemplate such a map and assign responsibilities relied on the Board of Trade and local Commanders whose judgment determined outcomes.
Below: George Washington was born in the Northern Neck area, a land grant given by Charles II to Lord Fairfax and represent neighbors who would play a vital role in Virginia history. Sarah Fairfax will improve young Washington's sensibilities while he surveyed for Lord Fairfax, and later serve in the House of Burghesses.
The First Global War engages Great Britain in Virginia-Pennsylvania borders for access to the Mississipi.
A thought: The Ohio River captures a Virginian's intellect, I think, because of its length and the search for a continental map that would win the loyalty of its citizens. George I, in one reading, would argue to develop this portion--from the Atlantic--before outreaches further west while the restless people would envision a quick move to the Pacific. To see the Augusta County name will place this writer in relation to the James River. So much of this area would develop into a patron for the Humanities and the study of government and its constitution that the names for higher learning earn their praises.
