Is your troop talking about taking a trip that will be three nights or more? This training is a council requirement for those troops. The trained adult must help with the troop’s trip planning and attend the trip. We will cover planning, paperwork and safety checkpoints for all types of trips and help answer any questions you may have about the process.
This is a two-session workshop - sessions 3 & 4. It is an official council training for Extended Travel.

Blended Learning Course
This blended learning course includes an online portion and a skills session. Once registered to attend you will be sent a link to complete the online portion (3-4 hours). The online MUST be completed prior to attending the skills sessions and you must show the instructor that you passed the online course. Upon completion of this skills session and the online GSNorCal First Aider course, you will be eligible to act as a Troop First Aider. Please dress in comfortable clothes as we will be practicing on the floor.

Go for the Gold is an orientation/ information workshop for Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, It will provide guidance related to choosing a project, preparing and submitting a proposal, completing an approved project and submission of a final report.

We will present multiple activities to support optimism and encourage ways to create ripples of kindness. This workshop includes demonstrating action items such as painting Positivity Rocks, Awesome Cards with role-playing, Words of the Hearts (sticky notes or note cards), and Trinkets from the Heart.

In this workshop, we'll discuss fun ideas to run after dark - whether you are doing the Cadette Night Owl badge or just looking for ideas for your next troop camping trip. We'll talk about ways to make night hikes engaging, teaching skills for navigating the night, and lots of games to play after dark.

We will learn and practice easy Girl Scout Songs, suitable for all ages. No singing experience required: plan to record them on your phone if you wish. Tips on how to lead songs will be included, so you will be able to share these right away. No lyric sheets will be included, to avoid copyright issues.

This will be a crash course on how to teach the Cybersecurity badges to your troop. We'll approach it at a high-level and do hands-on activities. You'll leave with the resources and confidence to teach this independently.

Learn to tie 9 Basic Knots, when and where to use them, and how to teach them to your troop! Learn how to whip the ends of your rope to keep it from unraveling. Knots include overhand, figure-8, square knot, sheet bend, bowline, clove hitch, round turn & two half-hitches, sheepshank, and lark's head.

Looking for a fun, outdoor adventure for your troop? Orienteering is the sport of navigating in the woods with a map and compass. Learn the basic skills of the sport, and how to introduce it to your troop at a local event. Try out a mini-course yourself.

Introduction to glass etching. Learn easy ways to work with girls and create unique personalized items. Bring glass items you wish to decorate (check out Dollar stores) or select from a variety of glass containers. Pyrex glass is not advised.

Artist Daisy will lead you through the steps to create a painting of an enchanted elephant. Learn painting tricks and Zen doodling techniques for an artwork you will be excited to display. Each work will be unique. Plus, prepare to lead your troop through making their own elephant paintings. Easy enough for all skill levels—Brownie through Ambassador.

Learn several creative, affordable ideas you can share with troops of all ages. Use ideas for fillers, warm-ups or to give as gifts. For example, fold and decorate a mini squash-book and a paper bag book with pockets. Create a simple pop up card and learn ways how to increase the difficulty for older scouts. Make, learn and play the game of Tapatan. Then roll some paper beads and create a unique bead person or a bracelet.

Learn several crafty ideas to create with yarn. Finger/straw knotting, dream catcher, crazy critters and more! I’ll share ideas from simple for daisies to more complicated to keep those older girls trying new ideas.

With all the wild fires and COVID 19 around, our scouts feel strongly about protecting themselves and keeping out of harms way. They want to empower girls to be self sufficient and demonstrate a procedure to take care of themselves when in trouble. Scouts want to demonstrate simple mask making procedures so that kids can make a mask for themselves in case they don’t have one around.
