The physical bridge was the main task for our group for much of the week. The time constraints were very difficult for this project, so at different points in time we always had 3-4 people building the bridge. We were given 15 planks, 150 sticks, 2 glue guns, and 2 exact o knives to build a 4 foot long bridge that spans a 3 foot long gap with 1 foot of height.
This was a our final bridge. We also all had hats made from extra supplies. We used many of our extra supplies to reinforce the bottom of the bridge. Since it was likely that the middle of the bridge was weakest, we reinforced it with many of our scraps.
Overall, we were able to build a bridge successfully. Our design got off to a bit of a rough start, as we quickly ran out of planks. However, we were able to improvise and slowly continued to improve our bridge. Finally, we built a bridge that fell within the requirements that we had confidence in. We would add more support to the base of our bridge if given the chance to redo the project.
