Students have been working on different tenses such as Present tenses, Past tenses and Future Tenses along the year. In this class, they will study the Past Perfect tense as the las item of their programme following the grammar contents of their book English File Pre intermediate. The teacher will introduce the topic and she will use a variety of verbs as well as time expressions related to the past.
(10 minutes)
We start the class with a picture on the board. The teacher writes the form of the Past Perfect on the board and then she asks: What had Janette and Rob done by midday? Students answer orally while looking at the the picture and the form.
(20 minutes)
Now that the topic has been introduced, teacher asks students to make groups of 3 or 4 to watch a video about the Past Perfect.
Students are asked to watch the video twice. First, for comprehension and then to make a summary of the Past Perfect, which should include FORM, USAGE and their own EXAMPLES. They Teacher uses the computer to show them the following Youtube video. The summary should be done in a Google Document or Presentation. After that, students share their work with their partners by posting their summaries in their Class Blog,
(10 minutes)
Students are asked to take out their phones to do a game activity on Wordwall. It is a game called "Smashed the Mole" in which they have to click the mole representing the Past Perfect. Their will be moles with other tenses such as Present Perfect, Past Simple, Future Simple, which will work as distractors.

In this part of the class students will take time to draft the content of a short video presentation with Powtoon. The final product will be done for homework
To begin with, the students and the teacher will read the tutorial posted at the bottom of this page. They will be given time to explore the webpage to see its different features.
Then, the teacher will explain the students the activity step by step:
The activity is called " What had and hadn't you done by midday yesterday?" Students will create a Powtoon presentation showing slides with pictures, sounds and effects. The idea is to use the Past Perfect plus an artistic touch to create a description of the actions in each slide. The presentation should have between 7-10 slides.
Once they finish, students will share their presentation with others. They will read the sentences in the Past Perfect from their slides to their partners and teachers.

The Triple E is a practical framework that measures the degree to which the technology in a lesson is helping students meet the learning goals. It focuses on the learning goals, and not on specific technology tools. It draws on educational research concerning effective and ineffective practices with technology tools from the past two decades. The framework is based on three components: Engagement in learning goals, Enhancement of learning goals, and Extension of learning goals as detailed below:
Engagement: technology promotes motivation as well as attention.
Enhancement: technology has a functional value, assisting and scaffolding learning.
Extension: technology helps to connect the classroom and students’ lives.
Students work collaboratively on Google Docs or Google presentations and Powtoon as in the Egagement and Enhacement degrees. By using technology they are motivated and focused while they build on their learning. If students did not used Powtoon, they would not be able to show their partners and teacher their video presentation. Students find themselves communicating, sharing ideas, discussing and deciding the content of their slides in the case of the summary in th first activity.
We can also say that in the last activity, in the Warmer stage, the use of Powtoon bridges the gap between the students and their lives thanks to the collaborative work in the first activity and by listening and wathing to their videos in the last part of the class.
