4Cs of 21st Century Learning
Creativity:
Using Pear Deck, teachers can provide opportunities for students to practice their creativity and share their learning by including drawing/doodling tasks in the Pear Deck. While ELL students may be hesitant to write a response, varying the tasks of the questions such as including drawing tasks, will motivate students to participate in the activity. Teachers can also show students' responses to the class as examples, so that students can learn from one another.
Communication:
Teachers can send direct feedback virtually to students during and after students type out their response. (Some ELL students may not like getting the attention from their teacher in front of their peers during class, so Pear Deck provides a way for teachers to discretely support ELL students)
Pear Deck's are also a great tool to check-in with ELL students and to allow them to communicate their feelings or events they are experiencing. Using Pear Deck for a mainstream or sheltered class, teachers can check-in with students by having them answer questions questions such as "What was your favorite/worst part of your week?"
Critical thinking:
Using Pear Deck, teachers can ask students open-ended questions using Bloom's Taxonomy to promote students' critical thinking.
