Computer Science, also known as CS, is the study of the designing, engineering and development of computers and machines that can connect to computers. Moreover, it is the combination of science, mathematics and engineering academic studies. In order to program computers, you will need to speak their language commonly known as code. Computer Science is important because computers
are the technological machines that will continue to be utilized for education and business transactions.
Traditionally computer science focused on the building of computational machines that process information for the use of government communications and information storage. Over time computers then became accessible in the household as televisions. With the rise of the internet the majority of business and commerce is currently being conducted online using computers and other mobile devices.
Educators can incorporate computer science in the classroom by developing lesson plans and unit plans that contain activities that scholars can complete online utilizing computer technology. This approach will prepare scholars for careers in technology by familiarizing them with working with hardware and software operating systems. This thereby gives scholars the opportunity to apply their tech skills prior to becoming adults.
Computer Science is a global initiative that is celebrated annually during the 2nd week of December during what is commonly known as Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek). It is during this time that our goal is to inspire scholars and increase their interest in computer science education programs. It is also during this time that Hours of Code occurs to introduce scholars to coding and computer science concepts.
