Download the student version of Simlab VR Studio. You will need to create an account and use it to access the platform. Once inside you can import 3DS models (FBX) along with Solidworks and OBJs to create a scene. Simlab has built-in tutorials and material libraries, I suggest you watch those first before continuing with the videos shown below
