Raising rescue dogs is one of those things that’s really rewarding but also kinda stressful all the time in the background. Malcolm knows that too well with his two Tennessee, a Pitbull mix who’s basically pure energy on legs and will randomly just launch into a full sprint for no reason, and Kola, a Pitbull-Lab mix who’s more chill but super curious, always wandering off sniffing everything like she’s got somewhere important to be. Totally different vibes, but both of them love being outside way too much.
The issue is they live near busy roads, so outdoor time used to feel like Malcolm trying to enjoy himself while also being on full alert mode the entire time. Like the dogs are having fun, but he’s constantly scanning, watching, counting heads in his mind, just hoping nothing goes wrong for even a second.
Then he started using the Halo Collar 5, and it honestly took some of that weight off.
First thing he noticed was the tracking. Tennessee especially doesn’t just run, he takes off like a switch flips. Older collars couldn’t really keep up or felt delayed, but this one is way more responsive. The GPS updates super fast, so there’s barely any lag, and Malcolm says he can just open the app and immediately see where they are in real time, which makes a huge difference when they’re near roads or open space.
The training side also mattered a lot because they’re rescues. He didn’t want anything harsh or scary or anything that would freak them out. Instead it’s more like gentle cues sounds, vibrations, little signals that slowly teach them boundaries without stressing them. And over time, it just kind of clicks for the dogs without fear being involved, which was really important to him.
So yeah, overall it just makes life feel less tense. Still a bit messy, still unpredictable because dogs will be dogs, but way more manageable. More freedom for them, and a lot less constant worry sitting in the background for Malcolm.
