Globolinha
A cartoon character used as a co-presenter of sports shows at TV Globo.
The main idea was to have a real-time character that we could control as a puppeteer. With that in mind, we build a database with many clip animations that could be used during the show. Additionally, we provided a mechanism that allowed the digital puppeteer to select a group of clip animations and setup each of them to be triggered by a joystick button. So, while the main presenter talked, Globolinha interacted playing actions.
In this project I acted as the team coordinator as well as software developer. We were 3 developers and 2 digital artists (modeler and animator).
Between the technical features that we developed, I highlight the interaction with the physical scenario. Globolinha was able, between other actions, to hide behind the big screen, to climb stairs, to collide with walls and to project shadow over the real scenario. Projecting the shadows over the floor and stairs improved the perception of the character's position in the scenario.
