Instruction

How has my Instruction Transformed?

After completing my student teaching, I feel more confident and informed about my methods of instruction than I have before. Throughout the last 12 weeks, I have learned through doing rather than hearing; I have developed strong interpersonal skills, a more confident teacher presence, and an increased comfort in the classroom. Having the support of my cooperating teacher and students throughout my practice teaching not only boosted my confidence and energy in my instruction but has also reassured and solidified my passion for teaching and learning. In developing my own teaching personality and instructional philosophy, I have grown more prepared to lead a classroom of my own in the future.

In this section, I explore and reflect on my experiences in teaching 7th grade ELA and learning from students. Along the way, I have realized what parts of my instructional routines and practices work, and which ones are not particularly effective. Through implementation and discussion of practices, I gradually strengthened my instruction. This section of my portfolio serves as my guided contemplation into how I have grown and what I have learned about instruction from my practice.
