Student Teaching Portfolio

Welcome to my Student Teaching Portfolio!

About Me

My name is Diana Beninati, and I am currently preparing for my semester of student teaching in the Philadelphia school district. I am originally from Queens, NY, but have been studying English and Education for the past 4 years at Bryn Mawr College. Upon graduating, I plan to receive my certification to teach English Language Arts in grades 7-12. English classes have always been some of the most transformational and beneficial for me as a student, and I hope to bring the same energy I have always felt as a student of these classes into my teaching career. I also plan to certify in Special Education in the future to ensure that I am best equipped to work with an array of neurodiverse students throughout my career as an educator.

This portfolio is a collection of artifacts and thoughts that I have compiled throughout my time in Bryn Mawr's student teaching preparation. This portfolio is meant to reflect my philosophies of education and the work I have done thus far to ready myself to become a practicing educator. The portfolio is divided into four categories: my learning autobiography and philosophy of education, focus on learners, curriculum, and pedagogy. Together, the content within these sections is an introduction to my role in the world of education. Hopefully, this portfolio paints a comprehensive image of my road to becoming a teacher -- a road that will always be in development.

"The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students. What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves." - Paulo Freire
