This project was early in my degree program at Full Sail, requiring me to create a level set the had to incorporate a fence and table completely through the Autodesk Maya program, including lighting, texture variations, and small details like the bolts on the table.
Wanting to create a scene instead of a fence and table I decided to set an entire backyard for the project. I brushed the flowers and grass into the scene then added a tree into the corner of the yard to fill out space better.
There are two different wood textures in the scene. One wood texture is used on the picnic table and the other is used to create the fence and pergola. For the fence and pergola, I used different sections of the same texture as well as flipping, tilting, and inverting the texture to create variations among the fence boards because you don't get symmetry in wood that much.
I decided to add in a part of a house because I thought that the yard felt empty without a semblance of a house. I also added a window in the part of the house that held a light that you can see casting a shadow onto the concrete the picnic table is on. Other than that light there was a faint global light originating over on the other side of the tree away from the house.
