Hello, I am Devin Swanner,
My hometown is in the pure state of Michigan and I was born on New Year's Eve of 1998. Some words that describe me are hardworking, organized, passionate, and ambitious.
Huge Influence:
Dungeons and Dragons is a major influence in how I started on my design path as well as a large portion of my gaming time with friends and my brothers. What drew me to D&D was the vast amount of options and almost zero restrictions allowed while playing. Whenever I design I will always sit back and evaluate if what has been made can be used with other intentions and if not design around it or with it where needs be, this can be a great boon to the game being made but it can create problems through development I have found.
I am the current Dungeon Master for my group of friends as we play over Discord in my homebrew setting. I created the world and everything in it, allowing my player influence it in any way they want, which showed me you can't plan for everything while designing anything given to a player. Even though it is a 5th edition game I still love what 3rd edition brought and has and I continually convert 3rd edition material to 5th edition to make a more interesting world for my players and take a little off the top on designing mountains of content myself.
Education:
I spent my first two years of high school 2013 to 2015 at Howell High School in Michigan while completing my high school education in 2016 at Easley High School in my Junior year, totaling only 3 years of high school. Immediately starting my Bachelor's in Science in Game Design degree program through Full Sail University immediately that summer. After the accelerated program of 28 months of the Bachelor's degree, I graduated in May of 2019.
Achievements:
I am an Eagle Scout as of June 7, 2015, with a Silver Palm. Boy Scouts was a big part of my life and has taught me too many things for anyone to look over. Through Boy Scouts, I have earned many awards and have Served my community with hundreds of hours of voluntary community service.
Other Skills:
My skills outside what is listed on my resume include;
Great computer knowledge with both and not exclusively hardware and software
Household and computer electrical work
Simple craftsmanship
Partial knowledge of the Spanish language
Puzzle creation and solving
The ability to create, solve, and quickly asses a complex situation to determine the optimal solution(s) to decide or have other people work through. (a great way to say I play and dungeon master Dungeon & Dragons, right?)
Then everything the Boys Scouts has to offer outside of leadership, I have close to 50 merits badges and learned too many things to type out all of them and the following list includes but not limited to; welding, plumbing, agriculture, geology, wildlife preservation, and many more.
Goals:
Being an ambitious person, after or as soon as I can, one goal of mine is to land a career in the video game industry as a Level Designer in a notable studio with a great team and start creating fun games that gamers love and enjoy. I have challenged myself to at least be part of the team or lead designer of a game that received the award of Game of The Year within 10 years after I graduate.
Pass Time:
I enjoy my time as an avid gamer. I like all genres of games as gravitate towards Pc and Xbox platforms among many other board games and sports like disc golf and bowling.
