Media literacy can also be regarded as digital literacy and they both refer to the ability to identify, interpret and understand different forms of messages displayed on the media, it can also be regarded as analytic skill. Media literacy give students direction on how they can handle a lot of information that they find on the media. (Potter,2018)
In order for learners and educational stakeholders to have media literacy skills, media literacy education interventions have to take place and they have to be designed in a way that they meet the needs of all individuals, respective of their age, goals and roles in the media. A variety of methods of teaching have to be taken into consideration when these interventions take place in order for them to be effective, as they have to take their social relationships into consideration. An intervention specifically for teachers have to suit their needs and age, in order for them to be effective, as it is essential to teach necessary and relevant information. Digital literacy is also all necessary information that learners obtain through a network medium and they are exposed to a network of computers and have an experience that is similar to reading a newspaper and watching the television. As digital literacy can also be regarded as a skill to exploit the technology for reading, writing and living in the 21st century, it is important for learners to learn about it so that it can prepare them to live and work in the 21st century spaces.
