A mythical creature experiencing a problem- that was the prompt. My first concept sketches centered around a bloodthirsty mermaid. I knew I wanted to create something a bit unnerving, but also having a touch of humor to it. After some more brainstorming, I came up with a concept that would stick.
A blood-thirsty mermaid tries going on an all-fish diet.... for a minute, at least.
For this project, my team and I decided to try a new approach. Instead of combining our styles into one consistent art style, we kept them separate and each took on a third of the animation. With our designated portions, we did everything from the storyboards, to the line work, to the color and tone. Using this strategy, we were all able to showcase our own styles, while still creating a cohesive piece with each other. My teammates voiced the mermaid and fish characters, and I handled the final editing and audio mixing.
