Social Impact

Problems:

1. 1. If disposed of improperly, the battery can create environmental concerns due to the toxicity of the product's materials.

   2. The outside of the lock needs to be durable enough to withstand brute force attacks, however strong materials typically are more difficult to recycle.

   3. Electronics, such as our smart lock, have the potential to enable class disparity if prices for them are set too high.

Solutions:

1. Advise consumers on how to properly dispose of the battery using techniques such as e-recycling

2. Utilize strong materials on the outside of the door lock, but use more renewable materials, such as bioplastics, on the inside of the lock where durability is not as much of a concern

3. Working our best to make our locks as affordable as possible, so that they're accessible to the majority of the public
