President Kress Meets With Network 54 CEO
by Newt Stawley
Earlier this week nUSA President Elizabeth Kress had a closed-door meeting with Network 54 CEO Michelle Dreyers. Sources close to the president speculate that this may be related to the upcoming Chicago Reintegration Initiative.
For those of you who are not aware, during the 7 hour war the city of Chicago was nearly destroyed by the highrider bombardment. Once a thriving manufacturing center, the city nearly became a mass grave. In an inspiring show of solidarity, however, those who remained came together and rebuilt. The new government of Chicago declared itself a free city, made deals with Continental Brands and Thorton Motor Company, and now is a thriving economic center all on its own.
Of course, being the only free city in the middle of nUSA territory has made things difficult for Chicago, particularly with President Kress having recently implemented a 100% tariff on all goods coming from the city. Now the mayor of Chicago has put forth the Chicago Reintegration Initiative, proposing that the city rejoin nUSA in order to avoid the financial hardships that would come from these tariffs. Public opinion toward the initiative is less than favorable however, and it looks as though the measure may be dead in the water.Â
