Observation of “CONSTITUTION DAY” 2019

The Constitution is the basic principles and laws of a nation, state, or social group that determine the powers and duties of the government and guarantee certain rights to the people in it. It is the supreme law that determines the relationship among people living in a territory (called citizens) and also the relationship between the people and government. The Constitution of India was adopted on 26 November 1949 and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. Since that time, the entire nation celebrates 26th November as Constitution Day every year enthusiastically. On this day every Indian commemorates the ideals and philosophy of the Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, and the Democratic Republic aiming to secure Justice, liberty, equality for all citizens and promote fraternity to maintain unity and integrity of the nation. For this purpose as usually the Rangapara College also celebrates Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas every year. Concerning the occasion, this year, the Department of Political Science organized Constitution Day on 26th November 2021. On the important part of the occasion, Dr. Ranjan Kalita, Honorable Principal inaugurated the programme, and he emphasized the importance of Constitution Day, the significance of its celebration, and commemorated the people who contributed to the development of the Indian constitution. The principal also highlighted the basic differences between the Indian constitution and that of other countries with examples indicating the prerequisites of the constitution such as societal, familial, and individual needs and where Baneswar Talukdar, HOD Department of Political Science read the preamble of the Indian constitution followed by the faculty members and students and took oath the ideals and philosophy of the constitution. In this programme all faculty members, students including office staff participated and enriched to them the importance of the Constitution.

1. Objective: To create awareness among the rural students and rural people about their constitutional and human rights and create awareness about various provisions for protection of rights.

2. Target group: Rural Students and rural people.

3. Outcome of the Programme: Students and other people understood various rights and how to protect that rights.
