1.1.Origin and growth:
The Department of Political Science of Rangapara College was started with the establishment of the college on 16th August, 1979. The Department of Political Science has been playing an important role in providing valued education. In the field of teaching the Department is not limited to the syllabus of the subject framed by the affiliated university. From its inception, the department has constantly been working for the all-round development of its students. The main mission of the department is to make students understand the basic concept of political science and its importance.
1.2. Curriculum planning and implementation:
As the college is affiliated to Gauhati University, the curriculum of political science of the college is planned as per the Gauhati University approved curriculum and the same is implemented by the department. The department tries its best to complete almost whole syllabus in the specific period framed by the university.
1.3Teaching methods and innovative measures adopted in teaching and learning:
The department of political science adopts traditional methods of teaching i.e the lecture method. But some innovative techniques are also adopted to make the teaching learning process effective. Group discussions are held after the completion of a topic to clarify the doubts of the same. Power points are also prepared to be presented in the digital classroom of the college to make the teaching and learning interesting, fruitful and lively. The Department starts to provide online education to the students for the benefit of the students.
1.4 Best Practices of the Department:
The Department of Political science always encouraged to take part in the best practices adopted by the college. The students of the department take part in plantation programmes, cleanliness programme, Anti-Tobacco awareness programme, Awareness programme on New Traffic Law etc. A good number of students are enlisted as the volunteers of NSS Unit of the college. The Department of Political Science organise Parent-Teacher meet to get feedback & suggestions from the parents to make the teaching & learning effective.
