Throughout Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Degrassi: Next Class, there have been several attempts to represent a variety of mental illnesses. Each of them have shared the goal to educate and support young audiences. Some of these stories have involved suicide attempts, though only two resulted in a character’s death. This exploration involves three such representations, each involving depression and attempted suicide.
