Summary: Captain Lynn Rippelmeyer is a pioneer for women in aviation, sharing her journey from a girl who lived on a farm in the midwest, to eventually becoming the first female 747 captain (Rippelmeyer, 2022). This book follows her throughout her life and career, sharing stories and insight about what perseverance really looks like and how she set the precedent and made a path for generations of women after her. This book is an inspiring story, that shows the power of achieving by doing, and not giving up when things get hard or people say no.
Why I Chose This Book: I had the chance to meet Captain Lynn Rippelmeyer at EAA Air Venture this year, and hear her speak about her story and this book. I was inspired and really encouraged by her and the advice she gave me. She embodies true courage and resilience, and has a story so necessary and important for all aviators to read and gain wisdom from. This book taught me a lot of great leadership skills that I want to embody, and how important each part of your story really is.
