Course Objectives:
Define the different defense mechanisms and how it connects to flight training.
Identify common ways that students exhibit different defense mechanisms and common behavior patterns in flight training.
Engage in critical thinking questions that increase and deepen understanding in course material.
Develop a lesson plan that equips flight instructors to teach students defense mechanisms.
Analyze biblical principles such as servant leadership, and connect them to instructional ideas and strategies when it comes to analyzing and teaching defense mechanisms.

Course Goals:
Interact with four different activities, from a lesson on human factors, to a case study with a specific incident, a hands on learning activity that ends with a completed peer reviewed lesson plan on defense mechanisms, and a book study that encourages critical thinking and a group discussion about leadership principles learned throughout the book.
Target Role:
Flight instructors, specifically one's in training or new CFI's. This course could also be utilize as a refresher course for more seasoned CFI's.
Biblical Intergration:
Biblical intergration will be included in all four lessons from leadership principles such as servant leadership being discussed with integration into instructing. Certain lessons will include discussion questions that will incorporate these principles into action and further discussion.
Lessons:
Follow each lesson in order, utilizing the training guide for more information on how to succesfully integrate this training course.
This introduction will include a lesson and a quiz to engage in understanding.
This will cover aeromedical factors, risk management, and defense mechanisms.
This lesson includes a video presentation going over a specific case study.
There will be critical thinking questions that will help engage instructors in the study.
This is a hands on activity that will include creating a lesson plan on defense mechanisms, peer reviewing it with fellow flight instructors, and engaging in discussion questions.
This book study will require reading Life Takes Wings, and will conclude in a group book study and a video that will feature group questions and discussions.
