What's this book about?

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins imagines a dystopian future in a post USA world called Panem, where children are chosen from each of the twelve districts to fight in a televised battle to the death each year to remind the districts to not rebel against the Capitol.

The world that Collins has created is dark and oppressive, with harsh punishments for those who go against the government’s authority.

The story follows Katniss Everdeen as she goes from unwilling victor of the 74th annual Hunger Games, to The Mockingjay, symbol of the rebellion.
